welcome to the natcave!

hello my friends!

welcome to my digital sanctuary and my first post :) this is where you will find me dumping whatever is happening in my life and whatever thoughts are in my head.

a personal blog was in the works for a hot minute, but i've been trying to experiment with different platforms. i'll let you in on a #secret: i've been trying to learn html and css for a more public blog via neocities. unlike wix, weebly, etc. where they'll give you the format, neocities lets you build the entire site on your own. there, it would've homed a blog version of NAT THE ROCK SHOW and also my public persona of some sorts. to no one's surprise, it turns out coding is Incredibly Difficult, and since i've started grad school, i can't really sit down and stare at code for hours on end anymore like i did in the summer. so for now, a public blog will be temporarily shelved until the time is right.

but i still had the blog bug!!! at minimum, i needed a space where i can share my own experiences and hash out my thoughts, so i didn't mind using a hosting platform where all i really need to do is just click "publish". my instagram close friends story doesn't work since 1.) i wanted to write in long form...on a real keyboard and 2.) i already spam enough on there, and at least a blog gives people the choice on whether they want to see what type of bs i'm on. that leaves tumblr as my next option, but i reckon not too many people i know are familiar with its interface, and i'm not trying to have my friends press a million buttons just to read what i ate for lunch. that leaves us to here! i think it's called blogger...shoutout cassie for introducing me.

anyway, one of the main reasons for this blog is that i miss the blogging format bro #BRINGBACKBLOGS. and also, that i am not a vlogger. my friends tossed around the idea of me vlogging my experience post undergrad so they can keep up with me, but alas, i cannot form coherent sentences when i am pointing a camera at my face. plus, i'm a slow editor as some of you may have found 😅. i am a blogger (tumblr user) at heart, and i can add pics, videos, audio (i think) on here!!! so this is almost like vlogging :D i'll post more than just school though...otherwise it'd be boring as shit.

some fun things:

• my blog name (natisonfire) is inspired by both post-hardcore band Alexisonfire and danisnotonfire. trying my best to bring the ~tumblr~ vibe on here minus the non user-friendliness.
• my current layout is inspired by post-hardcore band A Heartwell Ending's only album cover. also trying to emulate a ~myspace~ vibe...i guess.
• i was going to name this blog natcave entirely, but i'm saving it for the Public Blog.
• other name idea i had was last nat on earth like the Green Day song lol
• i am still customizing my blog...so please excuse the dust

some other things:

• this is my personal/private blog! i am only sharing it to my circle/close friends story so i do ask of you to not share the link with anyone else unless you know/have asked if they're my friend. (and there's actually not too many people this is being shared to so 😸). NOT TO BE A CELEBRITY OR ANYTHING, and it's not like i'm posting particularly secretive information, but i've had #issues with people that has left me a little paranoid 😓. but the content isn't top secret, and for whatever reason, if you want to mention the content with other people then i don't care (unless stated otherwise).
